DOHA: The Organising Committee of the H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani 2019 Camel Race has announced a host of prizes for the upcoming event which will be held at Al Shahaniya from March 2 to 13.
The 12-day event will see the participation of camels from Qatar and also from other Gulf nations. Around 220 cars will be distributed as prizes for the annual and prestigious festival, the organising committee informed.
The event will be held from Al Haqiq to Al Hail and Al Zamul.
On the concluding day, participants will be vying for the golden sword with the races dedicated to tricks.
The winner will walk away with the golden sword and the Mercedes S560, the second place finisher will get QR 500,000, the third place is QR400, 000 and the fourth place is QR300,000. The fifth place gets QR200 000.
The prizes are the biggest in the Gulf, amounting to QR10m and QR500, 000, distributed as follows: QR5m for the winner of the first place, silver sword, QR2m and QR500,000 for the winner of the second place, and QR1m and QR500,000.
For the winner of the third place is QR1m for the winner of the fourth place, while the fifth place receives half a million.
The Organising Committee of the Camel Race organises a traditional race, to encourage the owners and to revive the traditional sport of Qatar.
