The Indian Community Benevolent Forum (ICBF) conducted a medical camp at Premium Care Polyclinic, located near the fish market, on January 4. Indian Ambassador Sanjiv Arora inaugurated the camp. Sasikumar, coordinating officer, ICBF, K M Verghese, former president of ICC, and Tarun Basu, president of ICC, were present during the inauguration.
After opening the camp, the ambassador interacted with the doctors to find out what the common medical problems of the workers were, and discussed with workers their problems and assured them of his support.
Apart from doctors and paramedical support from Premium Care Polyclinic, Indian Medical Association and Aster Polyclinic provided medical support at the camp. A total of 320 workers, including Indians, Pakistanis, Bangladeshis, Nepalese and Egyptians, benefitted from the camp. Free medicines and snacks were also distributed to the workers. Local associations Karnataka Sangha, Tulukoota and Telugu Fellowship provided volunteers for the camp.
ICBF intends to hold another camp after four months in another part of the Industrial Area.
