Preparations are on for the Qatar National Day celebrations at Katara.
The first-of-its-kind high-tech planetarium in Qatar will be launched at the Katara Cultural Village on December 18 as a highlight of Katara’s National Day festivities.
This was revealed at a press conference held yesterday at Katara to announce the lineup of events and activities for the annual celebration. The facility is set to witness another significant addition to Katara’s already rich offering to visitors and tourists.
Constructed on a 2,240sqm area, the planetarium will offer a rare experience to visitors especially students, families and astronomy enthusiasts. The hall will have a seating capacity of 200 people, four seats for the disabled and another four for the elderly. It will feature a gigantic screen measuring 22 metres. Another distinct feature of will be a vast terrace overlooking the sea which will serve as a venue for events and activities.
The planetarium will add more attractions in Katara including 12 buildings which will house a chain of restaurants and cafes, libraries, exhibition hall, cinema and several cultural centres. Other elements of the expansion project are the Katara Plaza, which is a luxury mall set to host the first Evian Spa in the Middle East and a children’s mall, as well as the Katara Hills featuring gardens and green meadows boasting many recreational facilities.
