Doha: Defending champions Al Sadd are looking for full points as they take on Al Sailiya in the round 11 match of the Qatar Stars League (QSL) here today at Al Rayyan Stadium.
Coach Hussein Amute is determined to see Al Sadd go into the winter break on a high.
The Moroccan coach has targeted the next few weeks as a crucial stage in the season for the current league champions.
There are just three games left until the QSL closes down for winter – and Amute wants to keep the pressure on current leaders Eljaish as the title race hots up.
“This game is important; they all seem that at the moment. The first round of games is coming to an end and we want to finish very strongly. A victory would mean (lot) for us,” said Amute
Eljaish lead the table with 24 points while al sadd are in second with 21.
Sadd could go top of the table on goal difference with a win today although Eljaish would have a game in hand.
Standing in their way are Al Sailiya, a side still clinging on to third despite two defeats in-a-row. But coach Sami Trabelsi insists his players have nothing to worry about despite taking a knock to their confidence recently.
In today’s other matches Al Arabi take on Al Rayyan at Al Arabi Stadium at 6.30pm, while Al Khor clash with Muaither at Al Khor Stadium, 6.30pm.
Round 11 matches continue on  Friday. The Peninsula
