Ooredoo to be title sponsors of Padel World Championship

Doha: Qatar Tennis, Squash, Badminton Federation (QTSBF) yesterday announced  that Ooredoo will be the title sponsor of the upcoming Padel World Championship.

A partnership signing ceremony between QTSBF and Ooredoo took place yesterday, and in attendance were QTSBF Secretary General Tariq Zainal and Executive Director Business Ooredoo Qatar Thani Al Malki. 

Details of the partnership agreement were announced at a press conference held at Four Seasons. 

As per the partnership, Ooredoo will be the title sponsor of Padel World Championship which takes place from November 15 to 20 at Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex. 

The tournament will bring together 320 players from 16 different nations to Qatar and it is for the first time the World championship will be held in Asia and in the Middle East. QTSBF Secretary General Tariq Zainal said: “It is my pleasure to announce that Ooredoo is the title sponsor of the World Padel Championship.”

“We are superbly excited for the championship as it is for the first time the World championship is being held in Asia and in the Middle East and we are looking forward to an exceptional championship,” he added.

Zainal took the opportunity to extend sincere thanks to Ooredoo for supporting Padel

 “I take this opportunity to extend sincere thanks to Ooredoo’s Mr. Thani Al Malki for supporting Padel and looking for a long term relationship in the coming years. We are confident that the Padel World Championship will achieve high levels of success and help promote Doha as a sports hub,” the QTSBF official said.

Al Malki said: "We are delighted with this opportunity as we are constantly looking at opportunities to promote the health and well-being of people in society and the event gives us an opportunity to spread that message.”

Meanwhile, Zainal said preparations to host the championship are on track and was optimistic that it will be a success. 

“It will be a great event with many players from different nations participating. Preparations are on track and we are optimistic about hosting an exceptional championship,” he added

Zainal said Padel as a sport has been growing steadily in Qatar and hosting the World Championship will help the game to spread its wings throughout the Middle East region. 

“The hosting of the world championship will be a big boost to the game not just in Qatar but promote the sport throughout the region and we are confident that it will be a great event,” he added. 

The Padel World Championship will be another feather in the cap for QTSBF, which has been an organising top tennis and squash tournament over the years.
