Riyadh: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohammed Albudaiwi, welcomed the measures taken by the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) in response to US President Donald Trump's plan for a ceasefire in Gaza Strip.
In a statement on Sunday, Albudaiwi also welcomed international and regional efforts to resolve the crisis in Gaza, reach a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire agreement, and alleviate humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people in the Strip.
He reaffirmed the GCC's firm stance on establishing an independent Palestinian state with full sovereignty along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
