Cairo: The Qatari Businessmen Association (QBA) discussed investment opportunities in the Egyptian health sector, including the construction of advanced health facilities with international standards, in addition to developing and raising the efficiency of medical units, centers, hospitals affiliated with the ministry, and university hospitals.
This came during a meeting between the Egyptian Minister of Health and Population, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, and QBA Chairman Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al-Thani.
At the beginning of the meeting, Sheikh Faisal welcomed the minister and his accompanying delegation, stressing the importance of strengthening cooperation between Qatar and Egypt in various economic fields and benefiting from the great opportunities and potential of the two countries, highlighting the important role of the private sectors of both countries in developing bilateral relations.
The QBA Chairman spoke about the development in the Qatari health sector and the government's distinguished interest in enhancing this sector within the country's national vision.
For his part, Dr. Ghaffar confirmed that the Egyptian government places at the top of its priorities the support of the health sector to enhance healthcare in Egypt.
He said that Egypt possesses all the capabilities that place it among the leading countries in this field.
The minister also spoke about the achievements of the health sector and Egypt's vision to achieve the sustainable development goals by 2030, as well as the presidential health initiatives under the slogan "100 million health", explaining that the presidential initiatives represent a model that can be applied as a pioneering experience in the health sector in other countries.
Dr. Ghaffar added that the healthcare industry provides promising investment opportunities in the Egyptian market. He also explained the Egyptian government's vision for investors, who will be provided with a detailed map that represents the health development needs in each governorate based on the population, the disease burden, health service providers, and the incentives provided by Investment Law No. 72 of 2017 for investors.
The minister also stressed the importance of cooperation between the two countries and called on the Qatari side to visit Egyptian health facilities and study investment opportunities on the ground.
