Doha: Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) successfully concluded the second edition of the “Back-to-School” event, held at Sport City Station on the Doha Metro’s Gold Line recently.
In conjunction with the start of the new academic year, the company also announced the resumption of its school visits programme across the Doha Metro network.
Over two weeks, the “Back-to-School 2025” event had strong public engagement and remarkable turnout, particularly from families and children. The event offered exclusive promotions on school supplies through dedicated booths, alongside free access to a wide range of interactive and entertainment activities.
The highlight of the event was the exclusive unveiling of the new 365-Day metropass, which provides unlimited travel for one year across both the Doha Metro and Lusail Tram networks for QR990. An exclusive promotion was launched for event visitors, allowing them to obtain early-bird offer vouchers for the metropass with a 20% discount.
This year, the event went beyond delivering a distinctive shopping experience, creating an interactive space that reinforced the role of metro stations as dynamic community hubs throughout the year. Qatar Rail’s fruitful collaboration with its commercial partners greatly enriched the visitor experience and boosted public turnout to enjoy the event’s vibes and activities. In line with its strategy to transform stations into vibrant social destinations, Qatar Rail looks forward to continuing to build strong partnerships that will sustain the success of future editions.
Additionally,with the start of the new academic year, Qatar Rail has announced the resumption of the Doha Metro school visits program. This initiative is part of its corporate social responsibility strategy and aims to familiarise students with the metro network, its facilities, and how it operates, while also highlighting how the metro contributes to sustainability and helps connect passengers to Doha’s key destinations.
As part of this year’s school visits programme, Qatari engineers from Qatar Rail will accompany students on their tours, providing detailed explanations about their roles, professional pathways, and diverse specializations within the railway sector, with the aim of encouraging students to consider pursuing these fields in the future.
Students will also be introduced to the Metro’s travel cards, train carriage categories, and key safety guidelines followed both in stations and onboard trains. They will further learn about first and last mile services such as metrolink, metroexpress, and “Park & Ride” facilities.
