Naufar’s senior management welcomed 10 resident doctors and four fellowship doctors from Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC).

The doctors are the first batch of trainees to have successfully completed their specialty training at Naufar over the past year under the tutelage of Naufar’s Director of Psychiatry, Dr. Rehan Siddique.

This is the inaugural year of an ongoing programme designed to increase the level of expertise among trainee doctors in treating patients with substance use disorder in Qatar.

“This development demonstrates the increasingly strong relationship and partnership between Naufar and HMC as we work together to deliver the vision of the 2030 National Health Strategy,” said Dr. Khalifa Jeham Al Kuwari, Naufar Assistant Director General.

Naufar is a purpose built specialist treatment centre that focuses on helping individuals overcome addiction and substance use disorder. Patients receive internationally recognized evidence based treatment that will improve their quality of life and help reintegrate them into society. Naufar treats patients from ages 12 and up in specialised multi-disciplinary teams

Dr. Abdulatif Alkhal, the Director of Medical Education at HMC said, “HMC is delighted that the first batch of psychiatry residents from their programme accredited by the American Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education-International (ACGM-I) completed their training at Naufar. We appreciate the excellent training in treatment of substance use disorder provided by the specialised team at Naufar.”
