DOHA: Al Rayyan yesterday produced an injury-time goal as the former champions earned a fighting 2-2 draw against Al Sailiyah at Al Ahli Stadium yesterday.
Al Sailiyah have 35 points after 21 rounds while Al Rayyan have 34 with just one more round of action remaining in the regular season. Gelmin Rivas scored the injury-time goal for Al Rayyan.
Al Sailiyah produced the opening goal in the 21st minute and four minutes later, captain Rodrigo Tabata produced the equaliser with a penalty.
In the 50th minute, Al Sailiyah took the lead for the second time when Adel Bader Ahmed found the net from close range to put pressure on former champions Al Rayyan. Abdulqader Elias, standing close to the Al Rayyan goalmouth, failed to deflect the ball into the net following a cross from the wing.
Just two minutes into injury time and Rivas found the net with slick close-range shot.
