Doha: The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani opened the Fifth UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5): From Potential To Prosperity, at Qatar National Convention Center on Sunday morning.

The opening was also attended by HH Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, and Representative of the President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, HE Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed Ali, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif, Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina Wazed.
A number of Their Excellencies ministers, heads of diplomatic missions accredited to State and high-ranking officials from sisterly and friendly countries, as well as businessmen, decision makers in the field of economy and development, representatives of regional and international organizations, institutions and companies, and guests attended the opening.
During the opening session, HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani was elected President of the Fifth UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries.
