Qatar's Unesco candidate meets Ghana Vice-President

Accra:  Vice-President of the Republic of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, met here yesterday with H E Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kawari, Cultural Adviser at the Emiri Diwan and Qatar's candidate for the post of Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco).
Talks during the meeting dealt with bilateral relations between the two countries.
Vice-President of Ghana expressed his country's keenness to develop relations, especially in the areas of employment and investment and enhance cooperation in matters of international organizations, stressing that the exchange of visits between officials of both countries is the best way to explore prospects of cooperation.
Al Kawari briefed the Ghanaian official on his vision to achieve a new breakthrough for the organization, stressing Unesco's need for international solidarity to enable it to perform its noble mission in education, culture and science, pointing out in this regard to Africa's role in his vision for Unesco.
The Ghanaian Vice-President welcomed the Qatari candidate's vision, wishing him success and said he looked forward to cooperating with him in the future for the advancement of the Organization in various fields.
