On behalf of the Pakistani community in Qatar, socio-cultural organisation Ehsaas bid farewell to Muhammad Afzal Sheikh, counsellor at the Pakistan Embassy, who has completed his tenure of three years in Qatar and will be leaving the country next week to take up his new position back home.

The function held at Shezan hotel was presided over by Nadeem Ahmed Bashir, president of Pakistan Welfare Forum. The heads of community organisations, prominent community members and Pakistani embassy officials, including defence attaché Commodore Zafar Mansoor Tipu, community welfare attaché Rashid Nizam, counsellor Asim Khan, counsellor Gohar Riaz and first secretary Summer Javed Rana attended the event.  In his farewell address, a visibly moved and emotional Afzal Sheikh urged the community members to stay united and be proud of the rich heritage of Pakistan. He said he had had an extremely satisfying and productive tenure in Qatar.

He praised the community organisations for doing a tremendous job for the community. He also lauded the members of Ehsaas for their role in meeting the community’s needs, and providing community services as well as promoting Pakistani culture in Qatar.
