DOHA: The Minister of Energy and Industry, H E Dr Mohamed bin Saleh Al Sada, has inaugurated the headquarters of Muntajat BV in The Hague, Netherlands. Muntajat BV is the wholly-owned subsidiary of Qatar Chemical and Petrochemical Marketing and Distribution Company (Muntajat) QJSC.
Dr Al Sada described the opening of the headquarters as an important milestone for Muntajat as well as for Qatar’s chemicals and petrochemicals sector. “The development and diversification of Qatar’s petrochemical industry is key for Qatar. For more than a year now, Qatar’s downstream products have been marketed and sold under a single banner: Muntajat,” he said.
“At age 2, Muntajat stands today ready to announce assuming responsibility for the full 100 percent of Qatar’s high quality chemical and petrochemical production,” Dr Al Sada said, stressing that Muntajat BV — the international marketing arm of Muntajat — is proud to be the latest addition to The Hague, along with a long list of international companies, institutions and organisations.
The inauguration of the headquarters follows the opening of 14 new marketing offices in Morocco, Sri Lanka, UAE, India, China, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Pakistan, Jordan, Australia, South Africa, Malaysia, and Turkey.
The ceremony was followed by a dinner and attended by Dr Al Sada, who is also the Chairman of Muntajat’s Board of Directors. Khalid bin Fahad Al Khater, ambassador of Qatar to The Netherlands and Maarten Camps, the Secretary General of Economic Affairs of the Netherlands and over 300 guests from the downstream industry were among others who attended the event.
Addressing the guests at the gala dinner, Abdulrahman Ali Al Abdulla, Chief Executive Officer of Muntajat said: “The inauguration of the international marketing company’s headquarters marks a defining moment for Muntajat. Muntajat BV represents the fulfilment of our mission of marketing ‘Made in Qatar’ chemical and petrochemical products on the global market. Our international marketing network is expanding and already services more than 120 countries.”
“Muntajat is a success today because it leverages the value of top local and international talent, a roadmap we will continue to follow in the future. We’re pleased that The Hague and The Netherlands are part of the Muntajat story moving forward,” he said.
Based in the World Trade Center, the newly established headquarter, will set strategic direction for the network’s global marketing offices and serve customers based in Europe and USA.
Maarten Camps, said both Qatar and the Netherlands are small countries with big ambitions. “We are both true gas-producing countries. We’re also countries in transition – looking to add more sustainable energy to our energy mix.”
Launched in 2012, Muntajat holds exclusive rights to market, distribute and sell Qatar’s 10-million tonnes of chemical and petrochemical exports to the global market.
