The State of Qatar has congratulated the brotherly Republic of Iraq on the liberation of Al-Qaim district from the hands of the terrorist organisations.
In a statement yesterday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Qatar stands by Iraq in the face of terrorism and extremism.
The statement reiterated Qatar’s firm stance against terrorism and its rejection and condemnation of terrorism in all its forms, whatever its causes and motives.
Iraqi forces have retaken control of Al Qaim, a key final stronghold of the Islamic State (IS) militants in the country, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al Abadi said yesterday.
Al Abadi “congratulates Iraq’s brave forces for liberating the town of Al Qaim in record time,” his office said in a brief statement.
The announcement comes hours after Iraq said its forces had entered Al Qaim in the western province of Al Anbar near the border with Syria.
