Doha: The ministers of culture in the Islamic world have wished success to Qatar's candidate HE Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdul Aziz Al Kuwari, for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco) in 2017.
This came at the end of the 9th Islamic Conference of Culture Ministers held over three days in Oman under the theme "Towards Intermediary Developmental Culture for the Advancement of Islamic Societies".
HE Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage Dr Hamad bin Abdulaziz Al Kuwari, in a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) today, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the Ministers of Culture for their noble position, promising to continue efforts to obtain this important post.
The final communique praised the efforts of Member States in various cultural fields in a way that achieves the intellectual and cultural renaissance of the Islamic nation, calling on Member States to continue their efforts in implementing the decisions of the 9th Islamic Conference of Culture Ministers to address the needs and priorities of the Member States and their public policy in this area.
It is worth mentioning that the GCC Ministers of Culture had also reaffirmed their support for Qatar's candidate at the conclusion of their 21st meeting that was held in Doha last October.
