Nakilat appoints new MD

DOHA: The Board of Directors of Qatar Gas Transport Company (Nakilat) has elevated Abdullah Fadhalah Al Sulaiti (pictured) to the position of Managing Director, with effect from November 1, said a statement yesterday.

Al Sulaiti joined the company in February 2011 as Deputy Managing Director. Previously he had been Shipping Manager at Qatargas from 2006 to 2011. Prior to that he had held different shipping-related positions at Qatargas after joining the company in 1997.

He graduated from Southampton Maritime College in the UK in 1998 with a degree in Engineering and a major in Marine Engineering.

“I am honoured by the company and thankful for the trust and support of our chairman HE Dr Mohammed bin Saleh Al Sada and our Board of Directors,” Al Sulaiti said.

He said Nakilat is Qatar’s flagship marine company and it is a great privilege to be its Managing Director. 

“I intend to build upon its strong track record of achievements with further success, consolidating our company’s position as an asset to Qatar’s LNG value chain, to our economy and to future generations to come,” he said.

Nakilat is a Qatari marine company providing the critical transportation link in Qatar’s LNG supply chain. Its LNG shipping fleet is the largest in the world, comprising 56 LNG vessels. Nakilat also manages and operates four LPG carriers. Via two strategic joint ventures, N-KOM and NDSQ, Nakilat operates the ship repair and construction facilities at Erhama bin Jaber Al Jalahma Shipyard.
