Doha: Ibin Ajayan, one of the leading groups in Doha, organised Eid Al Adha activities for the blue collar labour community in Qatar to elevate workers’ quality of life by bringing to them a celebratory form of entertainment in compliance with Qatar National Vision 2030.
Events were held in Asian Town, the entertainment and shopping hub in the Industrial Area. The complex, run by Ibin Ajayan projects, attracts a large number of expatriate labourers and families.
It includes Plaza Mall, eateries, four movie theatres, a cricket stadium, an amphitheatre and auditoriums.
Activities continued throughout Eid holidays. After the Eid prayers at the complex, a variety show was held at the mall from first day to the third day of Eid, that attracted thousands in various age groups.
A cultural show was held at the amphitheatre on the second day of Eid.
The cultural programme included performances by Nepalese artists and performers, attended by about 10,000 spectators. In line with the Nepalese theme, a Nepali film festival was organised as part of the programme.
The film festival was inaugurated by community leaders. More than 15,000 film enthusiasts had the chance to enjoy participating films at Asia Town’s movie theatres.
Three cricket championships were held at the complex’ stadium — an India-Pakistan friendship match on the first day of Eid, and two GCC expatriate matches on the second and third day, respectively.
