DOHA: Opening up new trade and investment opportunities to encourage sustainable growth will be at the heart of this year’s World Export Development Forum (WEDF), which will be held in Doha, from 20-21 October, 2015.
The 15th edition of WEDF will be hosted by the Ministry of Finance through the Qatar Development Bank (QDB). The WEDF is a unique global platform to support trade-led development through high-level plenaries, workshops and facilitated business to-business meetings.
As the flagship event of the International Trade Centre (ITC), WEDF gathers over 500 senior policy makers, business leaders, heads of national trade support institutions and international agency officials to address trade competitiveness topics and to establish new partnerships.
Policymakers, representatives of trade support institutions and businesses are invited to meet in Doha against the backdrop of the post-2015 development agenda calling to renewed efforts to unlock the potential of small and medium-sized enterprises, women and youth.
Alongside high-level panel discussions and practical working sessions, facilitated business-to-business meetings will allow participants to take advantage of the Gulf countries’ unique position at the crossroads where east meets west to explore new business opportunities.
WEDF is designed for policymakers and business executives who are charged with driving innovation and internationalization. Attendees will participate in two days of stimulating, interactive discussions and debates. High-level panel discussions and practical workshops will focus on this year’s theme: Sustainable trade, innovate, invest, internationalise. In parallel, facilitated business-to-business meetings will allow participants to explore new business opportunities, taking advantage of the Gulf countries’ unique position at the crossroads where East meets West.
Featured topics at the two-day event include, the sustainable development agenda, SME competitiveness, Innovation and entrepreneurship, SME access to finance, Diversification through trade and investment, Trade in services and Regional integration.
