Safari Mall lines up Onam contests, gifts

DOHA: Safari Mall in Abu Hamour is offering a wide array of prizes and gifts to customers as part of its Onam celebrations. 
Onam the harvest festival of the people of Kerala, marks the annual return of the mythical king Mahabali to see his people living in peace and harmony.
There will be a flower arrangement contest, ‘Pookkalam’, on September 6 at 9 am. The first prize will be QR2,000, the second prize QR1,200 and the third prize QR800. In the afternoon, there will be a ‘payasam’ contest, for which the ‘payasam’, a rice and milk preparation, can be prepared at home and displayed at the contest. Attractive cash prizes await the winners of the contest.
On September 7, the Thiruonam day, special programmes and contests will be held from 6.30 pm at Safari Mall. There will be a welcoming of Maveli on his annual visit and he will be arriving with loads of gifts for his people, accompanied by the naughty ‘Pulikuttan’.
There will be a question and answer session where prizes will be given on the spot.
There will be Onam contests exclusively for women and children, including a spoon race, candle race, filling balloon, musical chairs, place a spot on the forehead, etc. A musical programme has been arranged for the customers to enjoy the Onam day.
The traditional Onam meal, ‘Onam Sadhya’, will be available at Safari Hot Foods and Bakery. 
More than 25 items will be available along with banana leaves. Different varieties of ‘payasam’ will be on sale from September 6 to 13.
Prior registration is required to participate in the ‘payasam’ and flower arrangement contests. 
Registration forms can be obtained from the customer care counter at Safari Mall and the last date of registration is September 5, 2014. 
Only limited numbers of participants will be allowed.
