Doha: Customs authorities at Hamad International Airport (HIA) foiled an attempt to smuggle a banned substance into Qatar.
Upon suspicion, Customs inspectors checked a traveler's bag and found a total of 4.916 kilograms of narcotic hashish.
Accordingly, a seizure report was issued the smuggled substance was referred to the authorities.
A few days ago, authorities also seized at HIA a total of 3360 Lyrica pills inside a passenger's bag.
The Customs Department has been warning against bringing illegal goods into the country. They are equipped with all means of support including the latest devices and continuous training to read the body language of passengers and to be aware of the latest methods followed by smugglers.
