Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Foundation for Social Work, Amal Abdullatif Al Mannai, said Al Shafallah Center for Persons with Disability succeeded in empowering persons with disabilities to take up jobs in the labor market.
“122 employees of the Center were employed in the institutions and ministries of the State, following the establishment of the Center to develop the capabilities of its employees through the holding of several courses and workshops.” This came in a press conference held yesterday to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities.

Amal Al Mannai said during the press conference: “I am honored to attend a special press-conference on occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities, which over the past two decades has devoted its efforts to contributing to the transformation process of empowering and rehabilitating of persons with disabilities that the State of Qatar aims to achieve Qatar National Vision 2030, based on the vision of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.”
“This year, Shafallah Center celebrates its 20th anniversary with a wise guidance from H H Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser, a clear indication of Qatar commitment to the matters of persons with disabilities. Shafallah Center attempts to fulfill its ambitions and is proud of its outstanding achievements dedicated to empowerment and integration of people with disabilities, a priority to contribute to the development of the next generation and the social development of Qatar, playing a vital role in ensuring a bright future and prosperity of the country.”
She said that since the establishment of Qatar Foundation for Social Work in 2013 - under which the Center operates, Shafallah Center has adopted a new strategic direction that describes persons with disabilities, as active people with the right to decide their future.
“In accordance to Qatar National Development Strategy 2018-2022, the inclusion of persons with disabilities became a top priority of national strategies. This new strategic direction reflects a qualitative development of Qatar policies and fully complies with the regulations and spirit of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.”
Shafallah Center she said, has succeeded in integrating the members and employees of the Center in the community through participation in various activities, such as: the activities and events of public and private schools, as well as, the workshops organised by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
“The Center also worked on facilitating the internal training courses for the work environment. In 2017, the Center witnessed the launching of greenhouse workshops, the expansion of cooperation with Qatar Airways through the establishment of the production line, and the employment of a number of members at Qatar Airways.”
“Through its future strategic plan, Shafallah Center seeks to establish Shafallah Club, which targets people with disabilities over the age of 21 years; and to equip a lounge for people with intellectual disabilities at Hamad International Airport,” Amal Abdullatif Al Mannai said.
