Doha, Qatar: Innovation has become an indispensable necessity for achieving development globally, whether through digital transformation, human resource development, or innovative financing solutions, Minister of State for International Cooperation H E Dr. Maryam bint Ali bin Nasser Al-Misnad has said.
Al-Misnad stated this during her opening address yesterday at the pivotal High-level Meeting on “Forging Ambitious Global Partnerships for Sustainable and Resilient Graduation of Least Developed Countries (LDCs)” being held in Doha until December 4.
The event had in attendance the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD) H E Sheikh Thani bin Hamad Al-Thani, along with several distinguished officials.
The meeting is co-organized by Qatar through QFFD and the United Nations Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UNOHRLLS).
In her address, the Minister noted that the meeting comes at a critical stage in which developing countries face major challenges, but at the same time possess opportunities that can turn into real achievements if the right partnerships, adequate financing, and supportive international environment are available.
Al-Misnad highlighted that international documents have underscored that these challenges are not inevitable fate, but instead a chance to reaffirm commitment, enhance the capabilities of these nations, fortify infrastructure, and facilitate technology transfer.
She emphasised that conventional policies are no longer adequate and that innovation is the key to converting the potential of the least developed countries into substantial developmental strength. She emphasised that multilateral cooperation is the cornerstone of success, as sustainable development cannot be realised without a collective international vision, equitable financing, and efficient institutions. She underscored that Qatar remains unwavering in its support for the United Nations’ initiatives and programmes designed to assist the least developed countries.
She reiterated Qatar’s conviction that these nations hold significant potential, asserting that investment in them, the facilitation of digital transformation, and the enhancement of capacity-building are crucial components for achieving sustainable graduation.
She remarked that the envisioned future is one in which least developed countries engage fully and effectively in the global economy.
