Doha: Ashghal will implement a temporary closure of some lanes on Onaiza Intersection (known as Sports Club Intersection), from Thursday, July 4, 2019, for a period of 2 months, in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic.

The closures will be as follows and as shown in the attached map:

One lane in each of the four left turns of the intersection will be closed

One of the three main lanes on Onaiza Street (Known as Al Istiqlal Street) will be closed, in the direction to Lusail Road

One of the three main lanes on Al Markhiya street will be closed, in the direction to Lejbailat Intersection

On both directions of Onaiza Street, the free right turn heading to Lekhwair Intersection and Lejbailat Intersection will be closed. Khalifa Street can be used to reach the desired destinations

The closure aims to develop Onaiza intersection by adding a fourth lane on the main carriageway of Onaiza Street and increase the number of the left turn lanes from Al Markhiya Street to 3 lanes instead of 2 lanes. Road users are advised to use alternative routes if possible to avoid any possible congestion.

Ashghal will install road signs to advice motorists of the diversion. The authority urged all road users to abide by the speed limits, and follow the road signs to ensure their and others safety.
