IKEA asked to stop sale of MALM cabinets

DOHA: The Ministry of Economy and Commerce yesterday announced that it has obliged IKEA company to stop selling all models of MALM brands of home cabinets.
The Ministry said the coffers pose a threat to children’s safety, particularly babies, and it asked the dealer to immediately remove the models from show rooms.
The Ministry said stressed that it is keen to protect the rights of consumers. Customers who have cabinets of MALM models are urged to contract IKEA Qatar to get the amount or replace the product or at least the company should find a sound solution for the safety problem. The cabinets haver six models with different colours and shapes and stores have been informed to stop selling them.
