DOHA: For the fourth consecutive year, Volunteers Division of Qatar Red Crescent (QRC) is implementing its Ramadan programme and distributing 150 Iftar meals daily.
Also water and juice bottles and sweets are provided for municipal workers in Industrial Area, in partnership with Ritz-Carlton Hotel. Another 750 Iftar meals contributed by Crowne Plaza Doha are to be distributed on certain days of Ramadan. Distributions are expected to benefit 5,250 cleaning workers.
QRC volunteers provided water and juice bottles, dates and nuts at the Grand Mosque during Iftar, in cooperation with Ritz-Carlton Hotel and the Torch Doha Hotel.
Volunteers also help other QRC departments organise events and programme such as ‘This Is My Wish’ to fulfil wishes of ill children at hospitals, ‘Recite and Ascend’ to honour students who memorise the Holy Quran, ‘Outstanding Students’ to honour students with high academic achievements, and other events.
“For the fourth Ramadan in a row, 4,500 municipal workers in Doha receive healthy food from Ritz-Carlton and water bottles and dates from QRC.
“It is a humanitarian message that embodies the spirit of solidarity in Qatari society and reflects QRC’s slogan ‘Saving Lives and Preserving Dignity’,” said Rashid bin Saad Al Mohannadi, Director,  Social Development Department, QRC.
He praised Ritz-Carlton and the Torch Doha Hotel for support and said such partnerships have a good impact on society and play a role in improving the lives of outdoor workers.
QRC has set up an Iftar tent in Old Salata that can accommodate 3,000 visitors and three in Al Wakra, Al Khor, and Industrial Area, each accommodating 1,000-1,500 people.
