Doha: Al Kharaitiyat have signed Iraqi defender Ali Faez from Al Shorta on a one-season deal.
The 23-year-old put pen to paper at the club’s headquarters in the presence of Al Kharaitiyat President Sheikh Khalifa bin Thamer Al Thani.
He had passed medical tests at Aspetar Hospital and agreed the financial details and contract duration with the club.
Faez, who previously played in the Turkish league, will be registered on Al Kharaitiyat’s roll instead of Uzbek midfielder Sanzhar Tursunov. The club will heavily count on Faez to help the team regain balance and improve on last season, which saw the club end the season 11th and second from bottom.
Faez is the first signing for Al Kharaitiyat who appointed Tunisian Nassif Al Bayawi as their next coach. The club also renewed the contract of Moroccan midfielder Anouar Diba.
