DOHA: The Ministry of Business and Trade has begun announcing the names of outlets that are permitted to launch promotions from time to time to keep consumers informed so they can take benefit and prevent outlets from committing irregularities.

The Consumer Protection Department (CPD) of the Ministry yesterday issued a list of 47 outlets in different areas of Doha and Al Rayyan that were given the permission last month to launch promotions from May 17 until June 18.

The CPD yesterday faxed to this newspaper a table with details such as names of outlets, their location, goods on offer for discounted sale, and the dates of the launch and end of promotion.

The table suggests the items covered by promotional sales include shoes, garments, furniture and furnishings, medical equipment, sports goods, jewelry and watches, diapers and children’s wear, and beauty products, among others.

Interestingly, among the outlets permitted to launch promotion was an automobile spare parts outlet, Saleh Hamad Al Mana & Company, in the Industrial Area. The promotion here closes on June 7, the CPD table suggests.

Various shops at the famous malls like the City Center are among those that have launched promotions. As for Lulu Centre and its various hypermarkets, the promotions close on June 17.

Several outlets selling textiles and garments located on Suhaim bin Hamad Street are continuing with promotions until June 14, shows the CPD table. Barwa Village close to Al Wakra is another place where a cluster of shops has been offering discounted sales of various consumer items, including shoes, garments and children’s wear, diapers and baby products.
