DOHA: When the Qatar Sports Club hosts the opening leg of the IAAF Diamond League (DL) tomorrow, Omega will once again be on hand as Official Timekeeper.
The Swiss brand will follow the league around the globe, timing the world’s best athletes in 11 different countries.
Omega has served as Official Timekeeper of the Olympic Games 28 times, so the athletes who have worked so hard to compete on the world stage, are in good hands.
President and CEO of Omega Raynald Aeschlimann, commenting on OMEGA’s role, said: “I’m always deeply impressed by the level of passion and commitment shown by the athletes. For Omega to play such a vital role in their sporting careers is a source of great pride, both for the brand and for me personally. Serving as Official Timekeeper of the IAAF Diamond League is a great honour. I wish all of the athletes the very best in 2018”.
Omega has been the Official Timekeeper of the IAAF Diamond League ever since the event was founded in 2010.
In addition to its timekeeping and data handling activities at some of the world’s highest-profile sporting events, Omega has also been responsible for the development of much of the key technology in sports timing, including the modern starting pistol, state-of-the-art starting blocks and false start detection systems and the latest version of its photofinish camera, the Scan’O’Vision Myria, which records up to 10,000 digital images per second.
