DOHA: Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) is leading a delegation comprising representatives from 30 hotels, operators and travel agencies, at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2014 to be held from May 5 to 8 at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
The delegation will highlight Qatar’s growing status as a destination for family recreation, leisure and cultural tourism. The show is viewed as an opportunity for Qatar to showcase its tourism progress to travel industry professions who come together at the popular event to be attended by more than 21,000 visitors and features more than 2,500 exhibitors.
“The large number of participants at the ATM this year is testament to the importance and significance of this show. Qatar is well positioned at the event, with a range of industry stakeholders showcasing the unique proposition that Qatar offers to business and leisure travelers alike,” said QTA Chairman Issa bin Mohammed Al Mohannadi.
Qatar’s rapidly developing tourism industry put up a strong performance in 2013, with the number of hotel guests increasing by 10 percent to a total of 1.32 million for the year. This represented encouraging progress toward the targets set out in the Qatar National Tourism Sector Strategy 2030, a roadmap that calls for the industry to play a key role in the country’s economic diversification and sustainable development plans towards making Qatar “a world-class hub with deep cultural roots.” By 2030.
