Gaza City: Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip thanked Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for providing a financial grant of $360m to the residents of the Strip for year 2021.

The movement’s leadership expressed its appreciation for the generous and continuous support provided by the State of Qatar to the Palestinian people as well as for its implementation of many vital and important projects in all sectors, the most important of which are buildings, roads, infrastructure, electricity, humanitarian aid and others.

This came when Chairman of Qatar’s Gaza Reconstruction Committee H E Ambassador Mohammed Al Emadi met a delegation from Hamas leadership in the Gaza Strip.

The delegation included Yahya Sinwar, Rawhi Mushtaha and Dr. Khalil Al Hayya, and the meeting was attended by Vice-Chairman of the Committee, Khalid Al Hardan.

Ambassador Al Emadi discussed the current political situation and developments on the Palestinian arena with the movement’s delegation, expressing his great hope for stability in all Palestinian territories after the success of the upcoming election process. He also affirmed the State of Qatar’s support for the Palestinian people and the continuing provision of support to the Palestinians at all levels.

Ambassador Mohammed Al Emadi affirmed that the Committee, in coordination with Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), will start the process of disbursing cash assistance to families in need in the Gaza Strip from tomorrow.

He stated that 100,000 families in the Gaza Strip will benefit from the cash assistance, at the rate of $100 per family.

Al Emadi indicated that the distribution process will take place through the branches of the Postal Bank in the sector, as part of the preventive measures taken to confront the coronavirus outbreak, in order to preserve the safety of the beneficiaries and ensure their commitment to preventive measures, sterilization, and social distancing.

He stressed that the distribution process will be carried out under the full supervision of the Qatar Committee’s staff and in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the Ministry of Social Development in Gaza, in a manner that ensures the highest standards of safety and security for the beneficiaries and workers in the distribution centers in light of the coronavirus outbreak in the Gaza Strip.
