Officials during the launch of seventh Qatar e-Nature Schools Contest 2020.
Sasol, the international integrated chemicals and energy company, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Friends of the Environment Centre (FEC), has launched the seventh edition of the Qatar e-Nature Schools Contest for all schools across Qatar.
The announcement was made at a press conference held at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and was attended by representatives of the organisers, schools.
Sasol announced as well a new addition of the Qatar’s Ecosystems to the Qatar e-Nature app and website, which consists of coastal marine and terrestrial environments.
This new addition is a result of comprehensive research by experts.
The successful annual competition encourages students to discover and explore Qatar’s rich nature and learn more about the environmental diversity in the country through the popular Qatar e-Nature mobile application and website www.enature.qa.
The Qatar e-Nature schools contest 2020 took a new format and shape to become online and open to students in all schools and all grade levels, comparing to previous years which included only primary schools.
The contest can be accessed via the Qatar e-Nature mobile application or the website www.enature.qa/schoolscontest2020. Consisting of ten questions multiple-choice quiz, the bilingual contest (Arabic-English) is based on information in the Qatar e-Nature app and website. Questions will cover various topics such as flora, birds, insects, reptiles, mammals, marine life, nature reserves and Qatar’s ecosystems.
The contest will run from February 1 to March 31. Prizes will be awarded during a ceremony in April to winning students in each grade level, as well as to the top five schools with highest participation in the contest.

The contest aims to create a curiosity and awareness among the young about the environment and nature and this is in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and the objectives of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. We would like to thank Sasol for their dedication to help raise environmental awareness among the new generation that will lead the country to a better and healthier future.”
Farhood Al Hajri, Friends of the Environment Centre Director said, “Qatar has a very diverse environment and many ecosystems flourish here. The Qatar e-Nature app and website offers precise information and educates about the richness and beauty of our nature and creates environmental awareness in the minds of the young.”
Jack Saba, General Manager of Public Affairs at Sasol Qatar added, “The Qatar e-Nature Schools Contest was launched with the aim of increasing awareness about Qatar’s rich and diverse environment among students. This is our seventh year of the contest and with each passing year, we have seen the participation by the schools and students increase exponentially, proving the success of the initiative.
This year we have changed the format of the contest to include prizes for children from every grade. This will create a healthy competition among students in the same age group.”
