High winds, rough seas and light rains likely today

DOHA: The weather bureau has forecast high winds inland in the afternoon and rough seas today and said there are chances of light rains in some places in the country.
Westerly to northwesterly winds will be moving at speeds of five to 12 knots an hour initially and then to 20 knots an hour, particularly in the afternoon.
Offshore, the direction of the wind will be northwesterly and it will be moving at speeds of 15 knots an hour initially and later at between 24 and 28 knots an hour.
According to the routine forecast issued by the weather bureau for today, inland it will be hazy to misty at first in some places.
The weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy with chances of light rains in some places. The night will be cold, warned the bureau.
Visibility will be affected initially due to misty weather conditions to three km or less but later visibility will improve to four to eight km.
The sea state will be calm near the shores but inside the deep seas waves could rise from five to nine feet high, said the bureau.
Day temperatures today will vary between 18 and 20 degrees C across the country and the night will be cold. It was very cold last night with the mercury dropping to nine degrees C in Abu Samra and 10 in Al Wakrah and Messaieed.
It was 14 degrees C in Doha last night while the temperature was 15 in Al Ruwais and 14 in Dukhan the previous night.
