DOHA: The Police Training Institute has concluded three training courses for the rehabilitation of officers at the Ministry of Interior.
The course graduation was attended by Major Ali Saud al-Hanzab, director of the Police Training Institute, and heads of departments at the institute and a number of officers. The courses included, the foundation course for officers (70), the police management skills course and Al Hatmiya course.
About 102 officers from various departments of the Ministry have completed these courses, which were designed to provide them with the knowledge and skills that qualify them to be promoted to the high ranks by providing them with the foundations of strategic planning, management of security crises and confronting emerging crimes.
The participants in the five-week course of Al Hatmiya received lectures on strategic planning, evaluation of institutional performance, problem solving and decision-making, effective delegation, emerging crimes, the institutional framework for human rights, security crisis management (bronze level), and dealing with the media.
Regarding the foundation course, 60 officers completed it and lasted for six weeks and aimed to provide the participants with the legal, police and administrative knowledge necessary to advance to the rank of first lieutenant, and to provide them with professional and behavioral skills to enable them to perform their duties efficiently and competently.
The participants received lectures that included preparing operational plans, presentation skills, skills for preparing and writing police reports, the crime scene, dialogue and persuasion skills, time management, in addition to practical and field applications, and public lectures with department managers and some public figures.
The course (the police management skills) was concluded with the participation of (22) officers from various departments in the Ministry of Interior, which aimed to provide them with basic knowledge and skills that enable them to perform and conduct effective police work through the successful exercise of administrative process functions.
