Undersecretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry H E Sultan bin Rashid Al Khater has met with Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Rebeca Grynspan, on the sidelines of his official visit to UNCTAD’s headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, recently. During the meeting, the officials discussed bilateral relations between Qatar and UNCTAD, as well as the means to support international efforts to address the current global challenges. In this context, the Undersecretary expressed his aspiration to further consolidate cooperation between the two sides, especially with regard to trade policies. Qatar chaired the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development in 2012, over a period of four years. Thus, it was the first Arab country to chair the Conference. During that period, Qatar hosted the 13th UNCTAD in Doha.
