Doha: Qatar Diabetes Association wrapped up its World Diabetes Day activities last week.

The global event, celebrated annually on November 14, had been extended till the end of the month this year.

The International Diabetes Federation and the World Health Organization started the day in 1991 in response to the escalating health threat posed by diabetes.

The theme this year was ‘The Nurse and Diabetes.’

In the wake of Covid-19, the QDA this year held the celebration mostly online, which included awareness sessions, a virtual walk challenge for adults and kids throughout the month.

Another highlight was the lighting up of the Sheraton Hotel tower in blue. Ashraf PV, a QDA representative, handed over the certificate of appreciation to Sheraton’s general manager Belal Alkadry.
