UCMAS Qatar holds national competition
DOHA: UCMAS Qatar Centre organised the second national UCMAS abacus and mental arithmetic competition on October 25, with more than 120 students from Independent and private schools in Qatar who have enrolled in the UCMAS programme taking part.
The event was held under the patronage of Sheikh Saoud bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani, Secretary General of Qatar Olympic Committee, and RasGas was the main sponsor, with Qatar Gate being the media sponsor.
Present during the event were Nasser Al Yafei, public relations coordinator of Childhood Cultural Center, Iman Al Tamimi, Director General of Taif Training Center, members of the Board of Directors of UCMAS Qatar, and Dr Dino Wong, founder of UCMAS International.
The event began with recitation of verses from the Holy Quran, followed by the playing of the national anthem of Qatar.
Elsheikh Mohammed Aboidris, UCMAS Qatar General Manger, thanked Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al Thani for sponsoring the competition and supporting the UCMAS Qatar team that participated in the UCMAS international competition in Malaysia last year. He also thanked RasGas for sponsoring the annual competition for the second year in a row as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.
Elsheikh Mohammed said UCMAS was a full brain development programme for children aged four to 12 that enhances children’s abilities and fosters efficient thinking.
He also thanked RasGas and Qatar Gate for their support and sponsorship.
Dr Ding Wong said: “I’m pleased to see such a large number of students from Qatar in the national competition and I would like and hope that Qatar children benefit from this programme.”
At the end of the event, Dr Dino Wong handed out trophies to the winners and thanked the students for their efforts and wished the students success in their lives.
