National Science Research and Innovation Week launched

Doha: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in cooperation with the Qatar Research Development and Innovation Council, and Qatar Science and Technology Park, announced the launch of the activities of the National Science Research and Innovation Week.

The event is held under the slogan “Promising Researchers for Qatar”, with the participation of all teachers and students of public and private schools.

Among the most prominent activities of the National Science Research and Innovation Week, the finalists for the 135 preparatory and secondary research projects, are divided into eight categories: biomedicine, engineering, computing and communication systems, earth and environmental sciences, chemistry and materials science, botany and animal science, behavioural and social sciences, energy, physics and mathematics.

A total of 270 male and female students from 100 middle and high schools participate in it.

The Ministry indicated that the final qualifiers for the participating research projects, which are the product of internal school exhibitions in which students compete in various scientific fields, will be held during the period from October 2  to 5 .

In addition to the finalists, training workshops will be held, sponsored and organised by Shell, targeting the scientific research coordinators and supervisors accompanying the students, and implemented by Shell’s main global program for science, technology, engineering and mathematics “NXplorers” in the company’s laboratories.

In addition to a technical presentation of the water and salt car project, while the Qatar Scientific Club is participating in a workshop on practical innovation in education, presented by its Executive Director, Engineer Rashid Hussein Al Rahimi.

The Ministry noted that an exhibition of the winning research in the first three places in various research competitions will be held on October 12, in addition to honouring the students who won the partners research, which includes the research of the Qatar Scientific Club, the research of Researches of the National Traffic Safety Committee, Ministry of Interior, and the research of the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy.

In the presence of representatives for each entity, the closing ceremony will be held on the following day to honour three winning research projects in the competition.
