Ministry to offer more incentives to Qatari Imams

DOHA: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs is mulling offering more incentives to Qatari Imams to attract more citizens for this job, and the proposal is on the table of the minister, said a senior ministerial official.

“We sent a proposal to the minister that includes new clauses regarding the incentives to encourage more Qatari to join us as Imams and Orators,” said Mohammad Hamad Al Kuwari, Head of Mosques Management Department, in an in an award ceremony held at Al Sheikh Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud in Farij Kulaib yesterday

The ministry honoured 64 Qatari and expatriate Imams and 19 engineers and supervisors at the mosques management department for performing outstanding jobs.

The awards have been handed over by the Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs H E Dr Ghaith bin Mubarak Al Kuwari.

“We are looking closely to specify a day for honoring the Imams to appreciate their excellent performances and encourage them for doing better jobs,” said the Minister. The Ministry is used to honour its staffs, and several employees have been awarded during Ramadan activities organised by the Ministry.
