Ministry issues decision to regulate hunting of wild birds, animals

Doha: Minister of Municipality and Environment and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs H E Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie has issued a ministerial decision to regulate hunting season of some species of wild birds and animals.

The decision stipulates that the hunting season for migratory birds fowl (locally called Al Lafo) is from September 1, 2021 to May 1, 2022, banning hunting during other months of the year, provided that the hunting of bustards (Hubara) will be by falcons only, and it is prohibited to use or exchange non-traditional hunting tools and means, especially the device attracting birds and whistles.

According to the decision, the rabbit hunting season is from November 1, 2021 to December 15, 2021, and not in any other year, provided that hunting for rabbits to be by falcons and hunting dogs only.

It is prohibited to hunt any other wild birds or animals, in particular, hunting endemic birds and animals are prohibited throughout the year such as Al Asred, Al Qawbah, Al Warqa, Suedabat, Al Humra, Al Adraj, ostriches and deer.
