Doha: Upon the directives of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the second flight of the State of Qatar's airlift has taken off on Monday morning to support brothers in the Republic of Sudan, which has been affected by floods since early August.
The plane, which belongs to the Amiri Air Force, is carrying 60 tonnes of various relief items, bringing the total aid to 120 tonnes, as part of an emergency grant allocated by the Qatar Fund for Development worth $5 million.
The trip is accompanied by the Qatari Search and Rescue team of Lekhwiya.
The Standing Committee for Rescue and Relief Works and Humanitarian Aids for Afflicted Areas in Brotherly and Friendly Countries headed by Lekhwiya was responsible for preparing the relief materials and coordinating with the concerned authorities to deliver them to the responsible authorities in the Republic of Sudan.
