Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani attended the graduation ceremony of the sixth qualifying course for civil officer candidates graduated from civil universities, which was held in the Police Training Institute yesterday morning.
H E the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior honoured the distinguished candidates and handed over certificates to the 64 graduates from the officer candidates at the Ministry of Interior (MoI) and Lekhwiya of various disciplines.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Supreme Council of the Police College, directors of departments, senior officers at the Ministry of Interior and Lekhwiya and graduates’ parents.
The ceremony was held amid precautionary measures to limit the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). A number of Ministry of Interior officials affirmed the Ministry’s interest in training and qualification courses to achieve its strategy in building national cadres capable of meeting security requirements, preserving national gains, and responding to future events, foremost of which is securing the 2022 World Cup.
In a press statements on the occasion of the graduation ceremony of the sixth qualifying course yesterday, they stated that raising the efficiency of the human cadre is the real bet to achieve the strategy of the MoI 2018-2022 with its service and security aspects, and to achieve development goals and aspirations, given that security is an integral part of the development system.
The qualifying course was implemented over a period of five months, with the participation of 64 trainees from several departments in the MoI and the Lekhwiya Force.
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior and Commander of Lekhwiya Force Major General H E Abdulaziz bin Faisal Al Thani stated that the strategy of the MoI gave great importance to international changes and the country’s preparations to host the 2022 World Cup, so it worked to raise the efficiency and skills of the human cadre in the ministry to be able to face the variables and challenges facing the security system.
Major General Abdulaziz also affirmed the Ministry’s interest in providing security by effectively and flexibly confronting all possibilities arising from challenges and threats in all circumstances, adding that this is what the Police College does when preparing students nominated from high school graduates who are enrolled in it or through the courses for graduates of civil universities.
Major General Abdulaziz bin Faisal Al Thani, praised the level of performance of the Police College and its staff in achieving the strategy of the MoI and building national cadres of officers capable of police work as required by the current circumstances, affirming the keenness of the Ministry to arrange priorities, evaluate procedures and reformulate the security work system on serious and solid foundations, characterised by scientific planning and directing capabilities at the highest rates, establishing an appropriate job environment to achieve security, and providing security services with quality, proficiency and excellence.
He pointed out to that the Ministry, in order to achieve these goals, supports and supplies the Police College with all the necessary needs and requirements that enable it to perform its role in preparing officers and taking care of training fields at all levels.
Advisor to the Minister of Interior and Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of Police College Major General Dr Abdullah Yousef Al Mal, stated that the effort and serious work that the Police College is doing in order to prepare promising generations of officers is commendable, as the college has proven its superior ability to train and prepare its graduates, whether military college candidates or graduates of civil universities, according to the best international standards in terms of training plans, academic and sports preparation and other requirements of the modern policeman.
He added that the college, with the support of the MoI, also undertakes the task of inculcating an integrated mind among the trainees and students, in which legal knowledge is combined with police work skills with a distinguished cultural level and conscious awareness of the challenges of security work to prepare generations of policemen equipped with modern functional skills and capabilities that achieve interaction with society and its problems, and enhance the ability to confront the world of crime, which has become dependent on the using of modern technological innovations, as tools that serve its goals and plans.
He explained that the college, over the past few years, has contributed effectively and powerfully to providing the Ministry of Interior with a group of distinguished officers who were involved in the field and contributed with their colleagues to maintaining security and stability, which confirms the integrity of the college’s approach.
For his part, the Director General of Public Security Department Staff Major General Saad bin Jassim Al-Khulaifi, stressed that security and safety are among the most important pillars of nations’ progress, prosperity and development and therefore, the Ministry of Interior seeks to advance them through a well-thought-out scientific planning aimed at preventing and combating crime, maintaining security and consolidating the foundations of a positive relationship with society and achieving security awareness according to the strategy of the Ministry of Interior.
Major General Saad noted the role of the Police College, the Officers Training Institute and the Police Training Institute in preparing and qualifying human resources to be able to assume responsibility, protect the nation’s gains, preserve its security and stability, and strive for success in all security and service fields in line with Qatar Vision 2030.
He said that the members of the sixth qualification course for graduates of civil universities have received advanced and diversified training programs in the military and sports fields, as well as the distinguished scientific method, during the training period.
On the importance of upgrading human cadres to secure the 2022 World Cup, the Director of the International Cooperation Department and Head of the Security and Safety Operations Committee for the 2022 World Cup Major-General Engineer Abdulaziz Abdullah Al Ansari, explained that the Ministry of Interior has taken upon itself the task of developing and raising the efficiency and skills of its members to meet the requirements of a security officer who is able to do all modern security tasks that are commensurate with securing the tournament.
He added that the Police College plays an active role in achieving these requirements. The college’s graduates from the three batches so far, and its graduates from the qualifying courses for graduates of universities, are a true translation of the Ministry of Interior’s plans to graduate modern security officers who are aware of the security challenges that the world is experiencing.
He expressed his full confidence that the college graduates possess the skills, capabilities and knowledge that qualify them to participate effectively, strongly and uniquely in securing the 2022 World Cup
