DOHA: An appellate criminal court has upheld the verdict of a lower court that sentenced a young Pakistani national to death for killing an old Qatari woman in cold blood. The man had strangulated the old woman using a T-shirt in what was a killing to revenge his insult. The convict, arguably a Pathan, worked in the farm of the victim’s brother and was on one occasion insulted by the deceased, he told the lower court. He had sneaked into the victim’s house having jumped the boundary wall late at night and had waited lurking in the outer garden patiently for hours until the woman came out early in the morning. As soon as she emerged out of the main door he attacked her, hitting her on the head and gagging her to death, local Arabic daily Al Raya reported yesterday.
