Bangladesh Embassy celebrates Independence and National Day

Doha: Ambassador of Bangladesh to Qatar H E Md. Nazrul Islam hosted a reception in honour of local Qatari high dignitaries and members of diplomatic corps on April 30, 2023 in Doha on the occasion of the Independence and National Day of Bangladesh. 

Minister Environment and Climate Change H E Sheikh Dr. Faleh bin Nasser bin Ahmed bin Ali Al Thani graced the occasion as the guest of honour. As many as 400 invited guests including high dignitaries of host country, diplomats, businessmen, media personnel, freedom fighters and members of Bangladesh community attended the reception.

The Bangladesh Ambassador, in his remarks, paid homage to the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, for his lifelong struggle, charismatic leadership and historic contribution. 

He remembered the supreme sacrifices by national leaders, the martyrs and the valiant freedom fighters of the liberation war of Bangladesh. The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the friendly countries and people who lent support to Bangladesh during the war of independence. 

He highlighted the socio-economic progresses of Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her government’s vision to achieve Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 and transform Bangladesh into a smart developed country by 2041. 

Ambassador Nazrul Islam also underscored the exemplary success of Qatar in the sectors of development, diplomacy, sports, international and regional peace and stability under the able leadership of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. He thanked  H H the Amir and the Government of Qatar for continued support to the Bangladeshi expatriates in Qatar.

Dance and song performances by the Bangladeshi students and Doha based Bangladeshi singers also accompanied the event. The guests were entertained with a wide range of foods including traditional Bangladeshi cuisine.
