Ministry of Environment announces end of winter camping season

Doha: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change announced today the end of the winter camping season for the year 2021-2022, and the ministry announced a deadline for campers until May 14 to remove the camps, providing the opportunity for those wishing to continue this activity during this period on the occasion of the blessed Eid al-Fitr holiday.

The Director of the Public Relations Department at the Ministry Farhoud Hadi Al Hajri, noted the success of this years camping season, pointing to the cooperation of camp owners and their commitment to the requirements and instructions for preserving the land and marine environment during the season, which lasted this year for 6 months, and the cooperation of various ministries and institutions in the country regarding procedures and special requirements to maintain security, safety and public health for all camps.

In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Hajri affirmed the keenness of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change to develop and modernize the winter camping season in the coming years, in order to achieve its vision and mission.

From this perspective, he said, the ministry will launch a questionnaire on its website this year, with the aim of polling the campers' opinion about the camping season, before the process of retrieving the insurance amount, as well as conducting a brief preliminary study with Qatar University on the impact and evaluation of camps during the camping season on the environment, from the social and environmental standpoints.

He called on all camps to dismantle and remove all camps within the set deadline at the end of May 14, 2022, indicating that after this date the specialized environmental teams will carry out inspections, follow-up and take legal measures against any violations.
