Northwestern University in Qatar students named in the fall semester Dean’s List.

DOHA: Northwestern University in Qatar (NU-Q) has announced its fall semester Dean’s List that recognises students who have excelled in their academic studies.
“Students who earn their way onto the Dean’s List demonstrate that learning is their real priority—and that academic achievement is important,” said Everette E. Dennis, dean and CEO of NU-Q. “This group of students exemplifies the NU-Q philosophy of learning through doing. As I look down the list, these students are not only making an impact inside the classroom, they are reaching beyond what is expected.”
The Dean’s List is comprised 59 students who earned academic distinction in the most recently completed semester. Communication majors must have achieved at least a 3.75 grade point average (GPA) out of 4.0 on three graded courses, and journalism majors must have achieved a 3.7 GPA on three graded courses or, if on residency, two graded courses in addition to their residency.
“It is an honor to be on the Dean’s list, particularly in my graduating year. I could not have made it without the love and support from the faculty and staff. I am forever grateful for all the opportunities provided that allowed to me to grow on a personal and intellectual level,” said Mahdiyeh Seidmahmoodzadeh, a journalism senior who will graduate next week.
Nine freshman, nine sophomores, 15 juniors, 18 seniors and eight graduates earned their place on the notable list NU-Q graduation celebrations will take place in May. On April 16, the graduating students attended ‘Last Lecture,’ a lunch where three faculty members chosen by the students — Christopher Sparshott, Janet Key and Anne Sobel — delivered parting words of wisdom. On April 23, the Class of 2015 were honoured at a gala dinner with faculty and staff, and May 3 they and their parents will celebrate academic excellence at the President’s Award Luncheon, presided over by NU President Morton Schapiro.
