Qatar’s Nominal GDP grows 7.4% in Q4 of 2020

The quarterly Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at current prices in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2020 is estimated at QR136.73bn, compared to the revised estimate of QR127.31bn, reflecting a growth of 7.4 percent. According to the data released yesterday by the Planning and Statistics Authority (PSA), the quarterly GDP at constant prices shows a decrease of 3.9 percent in Q4 of 2020 (QR163bn) compared to the estimate of Q4 of 2019 (QR169.64bn). When compared to third quarter (Q3) of 2020 revised estimate (QR163.82bn), a decrease of 0.5 percent is also recorded. GDP at current prices (Nominal GDP) has decreased by 14.4 percent in the fourth quarter of 2020 over the fourth quarter of 2019. The nominal Gross Value Added (GVA) estimate of Mining and Quarrying activities is estimated at (QR38.99bn) in Q4 2020, which shows a decrease of 28.9 percent over the estimate of Q4 2019 placed at (QR54.81bn). When compared to Q3 of 2020 revised estimate (QR33.70bn), an increase of 15.7 percent in the GVA of this sector is recorded. The real GVA of these activities is estimated at (QR60.32bn) in Q4 2020, which shows a decrease of 3.3 percent compared to the estimate of Q4 2019 (QR62.40bn). Compared to Q3 2020 revised estimate (QR63.01bn), a decrease of 4.3 percent in the real GVA of this sector is also recorded. The nominal GVA estimate of Non-Mining and Quarrying activities is estimated at (QR97.74bn) in Q4 2020, which shows a decrease of 6.8 percent over the estimate of Q4 2019 (QR104.84bn). Compared to the previous quarter revised estimate (QR93.61bn), an increase of 4.4 percent is recorded. The real GVA of Non-Mining and Quarrying activities is estimated at (QR102.69bn) in Q4 2020, which shows a decrease of 4.2 percent over the estimate of the corresponding quarter in 2019 Q4 (QR107.24bn). When compared to the Q3 2020 revised estimate (QR100.81bn), an increase of 1.9 percent is also recorded.
