Three Qatar boxers to take part in Sudan competition

Doha: Qatar’s boxing team yesterday finished their preparations for the week-long Arab boxing event starting today in Sudan.

A total of 11 teams will participate in the competition where three Qatari pugilists will take part.

President of the Qatar Boxing Federation Yousuf Al Kazim said that the competition will be very strong, due to the high technical levels of the participating players. He highlighted in particular the threat of Algerian, Moroccan, Tunisian, Egyptian, and Iraqi players.

Al Kazim told said that the federation opted to participate with the players who were ready regardless of how many they were. He added that he expects the three players to give a good account of themselves during the competition.

On the absence of Amir Al Saai, who won a silver medal in Poland, Al Kazim said that the player suffered an injury to his shoulder that will keep him out of the competition. The player will up his rehabilitation however in order to be ready for the Asian games in Indonesia.

Al Kazim who is also the head of the Arab Federation, said that its executive office meeting will take place on April 7.
