The Cultural Village Foundation-Katara opened two exhibitions namely ‘Space Light, Space Color’ by Iraqi artist Zuhair Shaaouni and ‘Metals, Gems and Pearls’ by Malaysian-born artist Patric Rozario.
The exhibitions were launched in the presence of Katara General Manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Sulaiti with representatives of various diplomatic missions and art enthusiasts in attendance.
‘Space Light, Space Color’ exhibition consists of 30 computer-generated artworks, which have acquired a huge fan following and is are considered-to-be almost equivalent to the more popular forms of fine arts in the US and other countries.
A Fine Arts graduate, Shaaouni is a member of Iraqi Photography Association, Arab Photographers Union, and Iraqi Journalists’ syndicate and has been living in Florida, USA since 1977.
“I’m a digital artist in the United States of America, and I have held many successful art galleries. For sure, digital art has many artistic streams, approaches and cultural ideologies, which emerge from such digital art from time to time. It is the cultural revolution that has changed the details of our daily life to the extent that we have become captivated by the charm of this indispensable virtual world of vivid and unique combinations,” Shaaouni.
‘Metals, Gems and Pearls’ is made up of 30 intricately crafted artworks, each studded with Swarovski crystals, emeralds, rubies, pearls and other valuable stones. Each piece of work is a unique masterpiece that draws on inspiration from Qatari culture, such as Dallah, the Camel and Arabic Calligraphy.
Describing his work, Rozario said, “My art pieces are constantly evolving, becoming richer and more meaningful, as they are inspired by feedback and ideas from the buyers and the viewers. I prefer to create pieces that are dazzling, rich, glamorous, colorful, joyful and rare. My effort is to evoke happiness, and if possible, heal too. The pearl works that I have created are considered by many as my signature collection. In fact, I am so fascinated with pearls that I have spent a great deal of time studying and researching more about the precious stone.”
The artist not only showcases his artworks in exhibitions, but also owns studios in London and Doha. He has also formed two companies, Aesthetic Arts Ltd in the United Kingdom and Aesthetic Arts Design of Qatar, with the aim of promoting his artistic pieces.
The works on display are bespoke metal coverings conceived and created to tastefully decorate interiors and to rewrite the concept of sophisticated living. These panels glow in brilliant designs and colors but are versatile, and are guaranteed to meet the requirements of interior designers, fit-out consultants and architects. Many professional designers and decorators are impressed by Rozario’s paintings that are not just stunning to behold, but also offer practical yet elegant solutions for working, living and entertaining environments. Both running until April 14, ‘Space Light, Space Color Exhibition’ can be viewed at Gallery 2, Building 22, in Gallery 2 while the other is on display at Gallery 2, Building 18 in Katara.
