Qatar, IAEA discuss developing integrated electronic radiation safety system

Doha: The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, represented by its Radiation Protection Department, held a meeting with a delegation from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to explore the development of an integrated electronic system for a comprehensive database on licenses, inspections, and radiation safety activities.

During the meeting, both sides discussed strategies to enhance national capabilities and strengthen the regulatory framework to ensure the safe, sustainable, and peaceful use of radiation technologies in Qatar. As part of the discussions, the IAEA delegation delivered a presentation on the latest global best practices in data management, licensing, inspection, and control procedures. The delegation also outlined measures to enhance regulatory processes in line with internationally recognized standards in radiation safety.

This meeting is part of the collaboration between the Ministry and the IAEA, underscoring their commitment to achieving the highest levels of radiation safety and protecting the environment and public health from potential radiation risks.
